As the sub-heading of the film "motion se hi emotion" suggests, the film is centered around the lives of a father and daughter and the emotional problems the father faces which becomes the center of all topics discussed between them and the people around them. This creates hilarity throughout the movie and also gives it a nice comic tone. The movie has fair amount of drama to it although it gets toned down thanks to the light mood prevalent throughout the film due to which the movie does not aim at tinkering with the viewer's emotions but gives them a real entertainer to watch along with a nice crisp story. The story is really good as it talks about how elderly parents are "burdens" on their working children. The movie helps explain how the mentality of the old age works and how they want to believe that they are independent and can take care of themselves all the time though it may not be true. They might think that they aren't forcing anything on their children although that becomes the case at times and the film gives a good insight in this scenario.
The film does not leave a single trace to complain about. It had the perfect recipe to create a brilliant film. The music for starters, was amazing. The soundtrack especially was superb. Nice and light music just like the mood of the film and some good background music too. The cinematography was good although I personally think that a few better locations could have been chosen for shooting the journey. The dialogues of the film were hilarious and spot on, they could not get better. The script was written perfectly in accordance to the scenes and a lot of hard work seems to have gone there. Kudos to the writers of the script.
One of the best parts of the movie was its cast. Amitabh Bachchan for the role of the father was just perfect. He was cute in the literal sense. His dialogues reflected the perfect amount of innocence. His dance, his taunts, his talk about motion throughout, it was all worth dying for. An incredible job by Big B.
Irrfan Khan has always been one of Bollywood's best, both in terms of acting and in choice of films and again he hasn't let us down. He executed his role to perfection. The role was tailor made for him and he just said the dialogues in his usual way with a little casual attitude, some amount of taunt and sarcasm and then frustration with loss of hope which was all evident in his face and voice. I’ve always said it and I’m still saying it, he is one of the pillars on which good Bollywood movies are still standing.
Deepika Padukone was good, however she wasn't in the limelight throughout the film because of her counter parts; Bachchan and Khan. She isn't to blame but her co-actors were really a class apart and she doesn't really belong to that category yet. She was good as usual and that is just what was needed from her for this role. It was nice how her expressions showed her tolerance levels and also how she hid her mistakes.
Another member, a major member of the film who needs to be applauded is Soojit Sircar i.e. the director of the film. The movie is brilliantly directed as it contains a perfect mix of humor and seriousness bringing out an engrossing entertainment package. Not an edge of the seat thriller, but not something anyone would want to miss out on. Soojit's direction along with the script and dialogues written by Juhi Chaturvedi really made sure that the core of the film was in great hands and they did their jobs perfectly for the actors to take it to another level.
Overall, it’s a great movie, a family movie to go on and I personally believe that anyone and everyone will enjoy this one for sure. It’s worth watching twice probably. Just remember, don't eat during the movie, might not go down well with a huge dose of humor and emotional jokes coming your way.
